Bikes can take up a lot of space in garages, particularly if you own more than one. The good news, though, is that by hanging your bikes you free up a lot more space in your garage. In this article, we’ll show you how to hang and store bikes in your garage.

How to Hang Bikes in Your Garage:
Now let’s take a look at how you can install bike hooks so that you can hang bikes in your garage.
Here’s what you’ll need:
- One or two C-shaped bicycle hooks with screw-in ends
- A measuring tape and pencil
- An electric drill or screwdriver
- A stud finder
- A stepladder and a pair of pliers/hand wrench
Once you have all the equipment you can begin installing your hooks:
The first thing you’ll need to do is measure the distance between both of the axles on your bike’s front and back wheels and measure the dimensions of your bike’s handlebars. When you have these measurements, locate any concealed studs in the garage wall or ceiling. The best way to do this is to use a stud locator.
Using a stud locator is pretty easy and on most models, all you’ll need to do is switch the stud locator on and locate a stud edge. You can place the bottom of the stud locator on the wall and slide right or left until the finder signals a stud edge and mark the location with a pencil. If you’re looking to install two hooks, then you’ll need to locate another stud at a distance equaling the bike wheel measurements you’ve determined.
Use a drill or screwdriver to drill a pilot hole at each pencil mark; these holes will need to be the same width as the hook's screw end.
After drilling the holes, you can screw the bike hooks into the holes – you should be able to do this by hand, but if the hook needs tightening at all, then use a wrench or pliers if necessary. Make sure both hooks are facing the direction you want the bike to hang.
Now that your hooks are in place, you can hang up your bike. Flip the bike upside down, so the wheels are facing upright, and slowly and carefully hang your bike from the hooks.
And there you have it! Once your bikes are hung up in your garage you can enjoy more room for all your other essentials.
