When getting ready for your renovation or improvement projects, drywall installation is one of the most important services you'll need to enlist. Read on to get a more complete idea of how our drywall installation process works and how our drywall contractors perform the job:
Preparation: To begin with, we'll inspect the installation site. We'll remove any old drywall, nails or studs to prep the new drywall. We want to ensure that moisture damage, bug infestation, or any other issues won't hinder our ability to install your drywall. If there are any cracks or holes on exterior walls, we'll fix these up with expanding foam to ensure no unwanted outdoor elements can encroach on the interior of your home.
Installation: The installation requires multiple components and it's important that these steps are done right. From cutting and measuring to sanding and finishing, we'll make sure each step is performed with the utmost precision.
We will:
- Measure and cut sheets of drywall for the ceiling and walls, ensuring the drywall's end lands on a strapping piece or joist for optimal support
- Drywall screws will be inserted with a drywall screw gun into the joist for support
- Cut pieces out of the drywall for any doors, windows or desired openings in the wall.
- Mudding and taping the wall. This involves mudding seams between pieces of drywall and taping over the mud once it has dried, applying these two or three more times
- Sanding and finishing. This involves using a pole sander with drywall sandpaper to smoothen sand joints that are hard to reach.
- Check for flaws
- Prime and re-sand
Painting: If you're doing a renovation, it's likely that you'll want to paint the wall sooner rather than later. We'll ensure that the drywall is primed, smoothed out and ready for your home decorating needs!
