For example, with a one-to-one vinegar and water mixture and lightly coat the area with a spray bottle alongside using a grout saw to scrape away any damaged grout and carefully dampen the joints with a wet rag. Another method we use is combining baking soda, liquid dish soap, and hydrogen peroxide to form a scrubbing paste. After gently wetting the surface we use a brush to apply the paste to the grout lines rubbing as we go along. We allow this to sit for about 10 minutes before rinsing with water and wiping away with a microfiber cloth or sponge. Of course, many people can prep the tile surface themselves but some prefer to leave it to a professional to avoid damaging the grout, sealant, or tile.
4. Grouting: We mix the powdered mixture and begin applying it in subtle layers carefully filling all the joints completely to the brim. We continue smoothing over the surface with a damp sponge as we go along so as to remove the excess grout but not so much as to accidentally remove the grout lining between the lines. After the application, we seal the lines if necessary and we allow the grout to rest and set firmly before cleaning with a damp rag. If a cloudy haze shows it indicates the grout is now dry and we remove the film with a dry towel or cloth. Sometimes grout lines weren’t properly finished in the first place so you may have pin holes and weak spots where the grot is seeping through. In those instances, we can likely repair the area without having to proceed with removal and replacement by cementing over extra material atop the existing grout.
