Q and A - Hurricane Season Begins

Q: June starts the 2018 hurricane season, any recommendations on preparing our home?

A: There are no known solutions for rising water other than moving, and maybe prayer. Wind and falling trees do a lot of damage and you can take some steps to prepare for this. If you have trees on your property that may be at risk of coming down in a storm, now is the time to deal with them. There simply aren’t enough tree companies to deal with the demand a few days before a storm hits, and they are charging premium rates at that time.

Even trees that look sturdy may benefit from thinning the canopy to allow wind to more easily blow ‘through’ the tree, and not blow it over. As we know from Matthew and Irma, falling trees take down power lines, damage homes, crush vehicles and block emergency access.
