When it comes to your family home, security is paramount. That's something you simply won't get from a damaged door. Whether yours is at the front or back of your house or in one of the many rooms inside, its proper function is critical to your everyday life.
Some of the most common types of damage we repair include:
Gaps and Misalignment
Gaps in doors occur because of improper installation. When a door is hung incorrectly or isn't fitted properly in the frame, there will be a gap at the bottom of the door that lets in drafts and pests. If you would like to keep your energy bills steady throughout the year, it's important to seal this gap. We will remedy the situation by either rehanging the door or adding weatherstripping. If the gapping is due to warping and extensive damage, you may need to replace your door instead.
Cracks, Dents & Chips
Wooden doors take a beating from the changes in weather, slamming, and so on. Small damages, such as cracks and chips, only worsen with time, which is why addressing them right away is so important. Resolving these types of damage can also help improve the look of your property and increase curb appeal. In most cases, we can use wood putty or epoxy filler to fill cracks and chips. Dents on metal doors can be a bit harder to resolve, but unless they have caused your door to warp, they don't pose a threat to its function and safety.
Wood Rot
Wooden doors exposed to the elements need to be sealed properly to resist moisture. When moisture meets wood and doesn't efficiently dry, it can rot. Rot spreads and begins to crumble, leaving you with a door that's essentially falling apart. How's that for a security measure? As long as your door's wood rot is small and isolated, we can dig it out and fill it with epoxy. If the wood rot has spread over a large area, you will need to replace your door. Doing this will also help prevent the rot from spreading to other wooden areas in and around your home, such as your deck.
Alignment Issues
No door that is hanging off its hinges can properly protect you from intruders. Alignment issues can also cause trouble with opening and closing your door, difficulties locking it, and loud noises. To realign your door, we will need to take it off of its hinges and properly fit it into the frame. We may need to attach new hardware if the old parts are damaged in any way.
Broken Hardware
Doors have hinges, knobs, and locks. These are the main types of hardware that every basic door has. If one of them is broken, you may not be able to open or close your door or lock it. Of course, if you are not able to do any of the above, your door is rendered relatively useless.
