Here are the steps involved in our tile installation process:

• Removing Old Flooring: Installation can sometimes be done directly over another type of flooring, but in many cases, it's best to remove old flooring first. We'll get that old material ripped up and removed from your property.
• Sub-floor Preparation: If necessary, we'll prepare your concrete subfloor or wall surface by adding a suitable underlayment for your tile installation to rest on, such as a cement backer board.
• Pre-Planning Layout: Whether it's on your floor or wall, it doesn't make sense to just choose a random spot and start plopping down pieces. We'll take the time to plan the layout of the pieces beforehand to ensure ideal pattern coverage.
• Applying Thinset Mortar: The first real step in tile installation is applying a bed of thin-set mortar for the pieces to rest on, but since it's fast-drying, we'll mix it in batches and go section by section.
• Applying Tile: The placing part of tile installation requires applying a thin, even layer of thin set to the back of the piece and dropping or pressing it perfectly in place so it sits evenly across the bed of mortar without flattened sides or air pockets.
• Grouting: Once the pieces are firmly in place, it's time to apply grout in the joints between each individual unit. That involves overfilling them a bit and then using a damp sponge to wipe away the excess grout, leaving a smooth, even line between each of the pieces.
• Removing Grout Haze: When grout dries, it leaves a filmy coating on surfaces called grout haze. We'll remove the haze by wiping the pieces down with a damp cloth, or by using grout haze remover if needed.
• Finishing Touches: Finally, we'll finish up by cleaning up any mess from installation and taking care of final touches like replacing baseboard trim so everything is complete and looking at its very best.
