Meet the Mr. Handyman of Wheaton-Hinsdale, IL Team

Wayne and Kim Owczarzak are the owners of Mr. Handyman since 2009. Prior to opening their handyman business, Wayne's spent 20+ years in Management for a Battery Distribution Center and Printing business and Kim spent 20+ years in Human Resources for a Financial Institution and Insurance business. When asked why they purchase a handyman franchise, “We have rehabbed a number of homes and had a difficult time finding a trustworthy handyman service who can provide maintenance and repair on both residential and commercial establishments. We thought by owning a franchise we could provide Wheaton, Glen Ellyn and Schaumburg and communities surrounding by providing an exceptional client experience.” They are involved in the local community in giving back through the Northern Illinois Food Bank and ALS United Chapter. Wayne and Kim have been married for over 30 years and when not working enjoy spending time with their families, golfing and traveling.

Erina is the General Manager of Mr. Handyman, having joined our team in 2023. With over 15 years of experience in long-term health care, she excels at managing the day-to-day operations of the business and leading her team. Her background includes managing a variety of health care facilities, including senior care, memory care, and emotional and behavioral health. Outside of work, Erina loves spending time with Scarlett and Casper, our office mascots. Erina enjoys going to Jimmy Buffet tribute bands with her family/friends, and hiking.

Jill is our Client Service and Business Office Representative and has been with our team since 1993. She plays a crucial role in managing clilent interactions and overseeing business office operations, ensuring smooth and efficient service delivery. Jill's dedication to her role helps maintain high levels of client satisfaction and organizational efficiency. Outside of work, Jill enjoys gardening, refinishing furniture, and spending time with her family.

Logan is our Client Service Representative and has been with our team since 2021. He is the friendly voice you will hear every time you call for a handyman. Logan's responsibilities include managing client expectations, organizing Service Professional schedules, and ensuring top-notch client experiences. Outside of work, Logan enjoys playing video games. If Logan could have one superpower it would be invisibility to scare people, as he enjoys some minor pranks around the office!

Christine joined our team in 2025 as a Client Service Representative and Business Office team member. She enjoys traveling and spending time with her two dogs, Lexi and Louis.

Valerie joined our Mr. Handyman team in 2025 as our Business Development Manager. She focuses on building new and maintaining existing relationships within our community. She lives in Glendale Heights with her family including her 5 dogs and 5 cats. In her free time she enjoys traveling and fast cars.

Erika is our Social Media Director. She joined out team in 2024 and love spending time with her dog Bambi.

As Office Assistance Lamby, Scarlett and Casper are responsiblefor the overall office moral. They help keep spirits up and the office active. Lamby spends her spare time enjoying riding in the car. Scarlett spends her spare time causing a ruckus and spreading joy. Casper spends his time playing fetch and working as office security.

Bart is one of our Service Professionals who joined our team in 2024. He has over 20 years of handyman experience in carpentry, drywall, painting, electric and plumbing. He enjoys camping with his family and wine making.

Curt is one of our Service Professionals and Estimator. He has been with us since 2023 and has over 20 years’ experience across all the trades. Skilled in estimating, remodeling, carpentry, drywall, painting, electrical, and plumbing. Curt manages all the large project estimates with commercial and residential customers. He aims to deliver client satisfaction with a high-quality finished product that meets or exceeds the client’s expectations. Curt cannot live without cordless tools! Curt enjoys spending time with his family, dog and 2 cats, fishing, and boating. Curt's favorite pastime is skydiving!

John is a service professional with over 20 years of handyman experience across all the trades. He joined the Mr. Handyman team in 2024. He enjoys providing his clients with an exceptional experience. He enjoys coaching sports and playing with his son and nephew on the weekends.

Scott is a well-rounded craftsman with over 20 years of experience in general handyman maintenance and residential remodeling, especially in bathroom and kitchen remodeling. He is always looking for new ways to solve challenges that clients present to him and provides a high-quality finished product and exceptional customer service. Scott enjoys spending time with his family.

Steve is a well-rounded craftsman with over 25+ years of experience in general handyman maintenance and commercial/residential remodeling. He is always looking for new ways to solve challenges that clients present to him. He joined the team in 2019 and prior to that he was a handyman specializing in carpentry, deck and fence repairs, minor electrical and plumbing. Steve enjoys spending time with his family and is an incredible proud father, and an Army dad! Steve won the Mr. Handyman ACE Award for Exceptional Customer Service in 2020.

Tom is one of our skilled professionals, servicing both commercial and residential customers. He has been with our team since 2019 and has over 20 years of experience in the trades. Proficient in carpentry, drywall, painting, electrical, and plumbing, Tom takes pride in his work and encourages satisfied customers to share their experiences with others. He has many clients who request him regularly. Tom's favorite tools are anything battery operated! In his free time, Tom enjoys golfing and going to the gym. He also enjoys spending quality time with his family, and his 5 dogs and 2 cats! Tom won the Mr. Handyman ACE Award for Exceptional Customer Service in 2021.
