Make sure that your collection isn't too big or too small for the space you have planned for it. Apply the above rules to the collection, as you would a single piece. The artwork should be 2/3 the size of the furniture beneath it; hang the lower row approximately 6 to 8 inches above the piece of furniture, and then space each frame 3 to 4 inches apart.

When you're hanging artwork over something like a headboard or a sofa, you want to adhere to the golden ratio, as stated above. It should span approximately two-thirds of the width of the piece of furniture. Then, you want to hang the art approximately 8 to 10 inches above the furniture. You want to keep it connected, visually, to the furniture and not just floating above it.

When it comes to displaying art in your home, you want it to look cohesive. You don't want it to look out of place or awkward. That's why if you're planning to hang art in a room, you need to take the furniture into consideration. Don't center your artwork along the wall, particularly if you're going to have large pieces of furniture beneath it, like a sofa or a mantel. Center the artwork above the furniture.
